Election 2007 in County Wicklow

All seats in the 30th Dáil have now been filled.

The final state of the parties is: Fianna Fáil 78, Fine Gael 51, Labour 20, Progressive Democrats 2, Green Party 6, Sinn Féin 4, Independents 5.

The last seat to be decided was in Laois-Offaly, where the outgoing Laois based Fianna Fáil Deputy, John Maloney, beat his Offaly running mate, John Foley, to become the final TD to be elected.

The final count also brings Andrew Doyle into the 30th Dail. County Wicklow now has 2FF, 2FG and 1 Labour TD. Congratulations to all the winning candidates.

After the elimination of Deirdre de Burca, Liz McManus received well over 3,000 transfers catapulting her into taking the 3rd seat with the largest number of votes for any of the candidates so far. Speaking to Brian Dobson on RTE, McManus expressed her disappointment that Nicky Kelly did not win a seat and stated that the Fianna Fail strategy of running Pat Fitzgerald as a candidate had the effect of splitting the vote and has deprived south Wicklow of a TD.
