At an IFA meeting recently in Aughrim, Evelyn Cawley Independent Candidate for Wicklow called on the Department of Agriculture to simplify and relax the EU regulations regarding inspections and compliance for farmers. Farmers presently are subjected to unannounced calls by farm inspectors as well as completing a 66 page compliance checklist covering 1,450 different questions.
